Encavis starts construction on 260MW solar PV plant in Germany

Encavis Asset Management, a German independent power producer (IPP), has recently commenced the construction of a 260MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Germany.

Situated in the northern region of Berlin, the construction of what is claimed to be Germany’s second-largest solar photovoltaic (PV) plant is set to take place in two phases. The first phase is scheduled to commence this month, with the project’s commissioning targeted for the summer of 2025.

This project is a component of Encavis Infrastructure Fund IV, and it has already allocated nearly half of its target size.

Acquisition of Spanish solar parks

In recent developments, the company successfully acquired two solar projects in Spain, totaling 139MW in capacity. The first project, named Lirios solar park, has a capacity of 103MW and was purchased from German developer BayWa r.e. It is situated in the southern region of Andalucia. The construction of the plant is already underway, and it is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2025.

Another project, developed by Hive Energy, is also situated in the southern region of Andalucia. This project, known as La Florida Hive solar park, is anticipated to be grid-connected in the second half of 2025. Upon completion, it will have a total installed capacity of 30MW.

During its fiscal year 2023, the German independent power producer (IPP) successfully acquired approximately 550MW of new generation capacity, encompassing both solar and wind energy sources.

Mario Schirru, the CIO/COO of Encavis AG, expressed that with the procurement of an additional 1 terawatt hour of electricity in 2023, Encavis not only surpassed its expansion goal for the year but also acquired projects in one of their key markets that can be swiftly connected to the grid.
